Brigadier General James H. Trogdon III

Assistant Adjutant General – Army, North Carolina National Guard

Brigadier General James H. Trogdon III assumed duties as the Assistant Adjutant General – Army, North Carolina National Guard, on 15 January 2009. In this capacity, he is the principal advisor to The Adjutant General of North Carolina for plans and policies as well as other areas affecting the North Carolina Army National Guard.

General Trogdon was commissioned in 1983 as a Distinguished Military Graduate through the Reserve Officer Training Corps program at North Carolina State University. His previous military assignments include Engineer Company and Battalion Command, as well as various staff positions at all levels. General Trogdon’s most recent assignments include mobilization in support of both Operation Noble Eagle and Operation Iraqi Freedom as Commander, 105th Engineer Group and Deputy Adjutant General, North Carolina National Guard. 

General Trogdon also serves as the Chief Operating Officer for the North Carolina Department of Transportation and is a registered professional engineer with more than 23 years experience in the field of transportation.
