Growing strong leaders and team champions in work, life and technology

Visit from Generals

Brigadier General Catherine Chilton visited ECU during Homecoming weekend to receive a 2010 Distinguished Alumni Award.  A 1981 alum who earned a Bachelor of Science degree in applied physics, magna cum laude, Chilton spoke to a crowd of primarily Air Force ROTC cadets, engineering students and a few alumni about her life as a student at ECU, her career and family.  In addition, she and her husband and former astronaut, 4-Star General Kevin Chilton (also an engineer by training), talked about making things work with Air Force careers and 4 children.  A few ECU engineering undergraduate students, including one  that was in attendance, have children…so her information about being an ECU student followed by Air Force officer and parent was passionate and encouraging for all.    Her appreciation for the wonderful opportunities the Air Force has brought her as an engineer, including taking apart and putting back together aircraft engines as a young officer, was inspiring as well.  An honor for all to have the opportunity to learn from the wisdom and experience of the Generals Chilton.
