Growing strong leaders and team champions in work, life and technology

The U.S. Navy to invade ECU

For the first time, the U.S. Navy will join the Army and Air Force in discussing leadership with our Engineering Project Management students as part of our 2012 Leadership Legacy Lecture Series.

The 2012 series’ first Navy speaker will be LT Xiao Sun, who is a Naval Academy trained system engineer.  LT Sun most recently reported to the NRC in April of 2010, and is currently serving as the Nuclear Trained Officer for the NUPOC (Nuclear Propulsion Officer Candidate) program.  Currently, two ECU engineering students are participating in the program with the number expected to grow.

In April, Commander Donald Tyer will join the series in live interactive transmission from Hawaii where, in August 2010, he assumed Command of DLA Maritime Pearl Harbor.  His 100 person unit is collocated with the 5,000 person Pearl Harbor Naval Shipyard and Intermediate Maintenance Facility.  The unit’s mission is to provide all Supply, Storage and Distribution (SS&D) services to the shipyard.  Currently 11 surface ships and 19 submarines are homeported at Pearl Harbor.  CDR Tyer is an eastern North Carolina native who was born and raised in Washington, North Carolina.
