Paul J. Kauffmann, PE, PhD
Dr. Kauffmann has worked for over 21 years in the industry and is a registered professional engineer. He is currently Professor in the Department of Engineering and has a PhD in Industrial Engineering from Penn State University, a MS in Mechanical Engineering and a BS in Electrical Engineering, both from Virginia Tech.
Kauffmann’s general research interests focus on technical operations management and related decision processes. Specific interests include the impact of technology on operational and financial performance and the analytical/quantitative methods necessary to make effective decisions in complex and difficult to measure areas such as technology strategy and product development, logistics and supply chain management, cost analysis/ capital budgeting, safety, and quality. Educational research interests include program assessment and curricular effectiveness in building career success skills
